County to hire firm to help in job search

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors agreed it would hire an executive recruiting firm to help in its search for the next county administrator. Meanwhile, the governing body is compiling a list of possible candidates to serve as interim county administrator until the position can be filled full time, which could take six months or more.

The board voted unanimously during its meeting Tuesday night in the colonial courthouse to waive the three months’ notice requirement in the county administrator’s contract so that county administrator Brenda Garton can leave the post April 30 to begin her post as county administrator in Frederick County, Va., on May 18. She announced her resignation to the Gloucester Board of Supervisors on March 3.
