County takes down online link to property records database

Mathews County Commissioner of the Revenue Les Hall has taken down his online link to the county’s property records database, and he isn’t sure when he’ll be restoring it. The records, however, are still accessible and can be found online at http://emaps.emapsplus.com/standard/mathewscova.html.

Hall said he took down the link to this page because the information in his ProVal database isn’t being automatically transmitted every month to the online database, eMaps, which is operated by Smart Data Strategies. This means that the online records are often not accurate, he said, and contain incorrect addresses and property values.

The county has a contract with Smart Data until July 1, and Hall said he’s hopeful that the problem will be ironed out by the first of the year, but Smart Data technician Jerry Tate wasn’t encouraging during a recent telephone call.
