County staff take on additional duties following director’s resignation

Gloucester County Administrator Brenda Garton has announced an interim plan for the county’s codes compliance duties.

"I am assuming the overall responsibility as the Director of Codes Compliance," Garton wrote in a Sept. 1 memorandum to some county staff, with copies forwarded to members of the Gloucester Board of Supervisors.

"That means that in any place in the code where there is reference to authority given to the Director of Codes Compliance or the Director of Community Development and Planning (the old title), I am assuming that authority, which I may then delegate to another individual," for example, oversight of the county’s Floodplain and Site Plan ordinances.

Garton took this action following the recent resignation of codes compliance director Ron Peaks.
