County residents reminded permits required for sheds/accessory structures

Gloucester County officials remind residents that zoning permits are needed for every shed or accessory structure that is built or delivered within the county. Additional permits may be required under other circumstances. “We are finding there are a growing number of folks who are under the impression that they do not need permits for sheds to be erected or delivered to their property,” said Paul Koll, Gloucester’s Building Official. “However, every shed in Gloucester County needs a Zoning Permit. Start there first.” Koll said a Zoning Permit is required to ensure that the sheds are not placed too close to adjacent properties, which can cause disputes among neighboring property owners. Typically, those who are wanting to place or build a shed on their property need to bring a drawing to scale of their property with them to the Zoning Office and show where the shed will be going.
