County employees could see big increases in insurance premiums

Some Gloucester County employees could see their health insurance premiums more than triple what they are currently paying each month. The employees were notified through an e-mail on Friday from human resources director Pat Michura.

The county has no provision in its proposed fiscal year 2015-16 budget to fund the county’s share of the premium increases, so employees would have to foot the bill for their own share of the increase on top of the difference from what the county is currently paying and the increase of its share.

The e-mail sent to county employees states that preliminary health insurance renewal estimates indicate an 18 percent increase in total premiums; however, the actual increase for individual plans could be much higher.
