COUNTESS CROWE TURPIN

Countess Crowe Turpin, 80, of Mathews, peacefully passed away at her home on Nov. 28, 2017, with loving family by her side.

Countess was born and raised in Middlesex. She worked for the Mathews School System for 37 years as a bus driver.

“Mom” was an avid reader and so enjoyed her days on the beach with a good book. She would say “it just doesn’t get any better than this.” She loved to travel, but always looked forward the most to spending weeks in the Outer Banks with her girls and grandchildren. A wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her memory will be with us forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving T. Turpin; parents, Robert and Annie H. Crowe, and brother, Eugene Crowe.

She is survived by her four daughters, Maxine Hudgins (Ronnie), Dianne Hurst (Mike), Carolyn Turpin and Denise Fletcher (Howard); nine grandchildren, Ron Hudgins Jr. (Amber), Rhonda Ramsey (Robert), Robbie Hudgins, Michael Hurst Jr. (Tasha), Stacie Wiatt (Ricky), Brent Haywood (Kayla), Brandon Haywood (Lindsay), Jessica Day and Cameron Fletcher, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in H.C. Smithers Cemetery.

In memory of our mother, donations may be given to the Mathews Memorial Library, P.O. Box 980, Mathews, Va. 23109; Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1130, Mathews, Va. 23109, or a favorite charity of your choice.
