Corbin named April’s Artist of Month at Bay School

Christine Corbin has been selected as the April Artist of the Month by the Bay School Community Arts Center, Mathews.

A local Mathews artist who comes from a family of artists, Corbin works in oil and acrylic paints and fabrics. Her favorite painting subjects are nautical and nature scenes around Mathews and Virginia and across the U.S., said a press release.

Corbin is a master naturalist and a master gardener, and she loves flowers, said the release. Her garden is an inspiration for her smaller landscapes and still life interior scenes, with a focus on light and contrast.

As a veteran 35-year certified art appraiser and broker, Corbin travels across the U.S. She is now focusing on her own works and naturalistic style, and she studies art through the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and at the Bay School. Her art is in collections across the U.S., and she is on the annual Made in Mathews Open Studio Tour.
