Convenience store expands offerings

Hyco Market has expanded the goods and services it now provides, new owner Ashok Bhatia of West Point said.

Bhatia became owner of Hyco Market and Chris Mart #6 in Deltaville, both fuel and convenience stores, in April. He leases the buildings from separate owners.

Among changes Bhatia has added at Hyco Corner are expanded lines of bait and tackle, more groceries, sandwiches and fresh-made pizza. In addition, customers can stop in for camping supplies, purchase hunting and fishing licenses, buy a T-shirt or sports cap, pump gasoline and diesel fuel and pick up firewood, and pay various utility bills there. He has added automatic teller machines at both the Mathews and Deltaville stores.
"I want to make this a convenient place to shop," Bhatia said of Hyco Market. By offering many goods and services, he said this will help attract more business. Bhatia employs three people at each location. He manages the Mathews store, while his wife manages the Deltaville store.
