Conservation Fund purchases Timberneck Farm

One of Gloucester County’s hidden gems, Timberneck Farm, has new owners, who bring with them a mission to protect the land for years to come.

The Conservation Fund recently purchased the large tract of land, which was once owned by the Catlett family near Ordinary. The Fund, based in Arlington, creates “solutions that make environmental and economic sense … redefining conservation to demonstrate its essential role in our future prosperity,” according to its website.

Ann Simonelli, media relations director of The Conservation Fund, said the organization purchased the property with the goal of protecting it and keeping it as an open space. The property was purchased for $15.3 million several weeks ago by the Fund from Timberneck, LLC, which had originally planned to develop it, according to Gloucester County property records.

The property also includes Timberneck Hall, a two-story, double-pile house that the Catlett family lived in.
