Concerts by the Bay

The band Clan MacCool will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, in a Concerts by the Bay presentation at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. Band members include, from left, ‘Kraken’ Jack Van Horn, Bethany ‘Blackhearted Bones’ Heape, Jim ‘Mr Squeeze’ Rice, Judy ‘Jocelyn’ Wheat, Scott ‘Stilwell Caught’ Hyland, ‘Calico’ George Opie, Audrey ‘Mad Maudlin’ Gumbert, Kyle ‘Gunpowder Harry’ Fannin, Steve ‘Kentucky Woodman’ Fannin, and, seated, Robin ‘MingO’ Welch. The band specializes in Irish/Scottish traditional music and is highly interactive with the audience. It offers an array of Celtic traditional songs, tunes, and reels. Pulling from old sea shanties and their own music over the course of two decades, Clan MacCool “will delight an audience of all ages,” said a press release. Tickets are $25 at the door; students are admitted free of charge. For more information, visit concertsbythebay.org, email concertsbythebay@cox.net, or call 757-871-7070.
