Community meeting next week on solar proposal

Representatives from Strata Solar, LLC, will hold a community meeting to explain their plans to develop a solar energy facility on Route 14 near Toddsbury Lane at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center.

Kevin Day, regional director of development for the Chapel Hill, North Carolina company, said Monday that next week’s meeting will be an informal way for interested residents to learn more about the project.

Gloucester County planning staff will also be on hand to answer questions, said Anne Ducey-Ortiz, director of planning and zoning.

The Gloucester Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the solar facility project at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2; that meeting will begin at the commission’s new start time of 7 p.m. After the commission makes its recommendation, the matter will move on to the Gloucester Board of Supervisors for a separate public hearing and ultimate vote.
