Commonwealth Transportation Board approves six-year plan

The Commonwealth Transportation Board approved its Six-Year Improvement Program at its June 20 meeting in Richmond.

The plan allocates $18.6 billion to transportation projects over the six-year period that began on July 1. Marshall M. Herman, a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation, said projects include highway, road, bridge, rail, transit, bicycle/pedestrian paths and other transportation improvements across the state. CTB approved funds include for both VDOT and the state Department of Rail and Public Transportation.

The program provides funding to more than 3,600 transportation projects to improve the state’s infrastructure, Herman said.

Some Gloucester projects are pedestrian improvements in Gloucester Court House, intersection improvements at Routes 17 and 14 (Gloucester C.H.) and Routes 17/216 (Hayes), and site access improvements to Rappahannock Community College’s Glenns campus.
