The Mathews High School After Prom Committee is one busy group of ladies. For the past two years, the seven committee members have been working hard to make sure prom night is an exciting experience for high school juniors and seniors.

After Prom provides a range of games and fun activities for students to enjoy in an alcohol- and drug-free environment once the prom is over. It will be held from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the high school. The prom will be held from 7-10 p.m. that evening at the Shores of Cedar Point, an event venue in Bohannon.

The theme of this year’s After Prom celebration is “The ’80s,” according to co-organizers Alda Barnett and Glenda Burroughs, featuring songs from the 1980s, as well as lots of food, and plenty of prizes to be won in a carnival-like atmosphere. Among the larger prizes are a kayak, a bicycle, a paddleboard, an iPad Air, a laptop computer, a television, an iPod Pro, a Nintendo Switch, and college, camping and beach bundles.
