Commissioner, treasurer to see reduction in budgets, beginning Jan. 1

The Mathews Commissioner of the Revenue and the Mathews Treasurer will see a reduction in their budgets for the fiscal year 2012-13.

According to a letter from county administrator Mindy Moran, which was included in the September board packet, the county decided during the budget process early this year to reduce the annual supplement it pays the commissioner’s office by $5,259.48 and the treasurer’s office by $5,249.43, beginning Jan. 1.

Moran explained in the letter that the county is required by the state compensation board to pay 50 percent of the salary budgeted by the state for employees. That 50 percent match for next year is $21,602 total for commissioner’s office employees and $21,723 total for treasurer’s office employees, she said.
