Comment period extended on Coast Guard proposal

The public will have an additional seven weeks to comment on the U.S. Coast Guard’s proposal to downgrade Station Milford Haven to seasonal status after public outcry over the matter and the intervention of Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross).

Wittman announced the time extension during a public meeting held jointly with the Coast Guard on Monday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club in Mathews. Over 100 people attended the meeting, which was announced just last Wednesday. The Congressman pulled the event together quickly, after learning of the proposal last month, in order to meet Tuesday’s original deadline for comment.
