Comix Con returns

Gloucester Library will be hosting its first in-person Comix Con since 2019 next month. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the library’s Main Street Center location.

The fifth annual (fourth in-person) event will welcome people of all ages to come dressed as their favorite superhero, villain, animé character or any other favorite character. There will be a costume contest judged by age group.

There will also be a magic show, face-painting, food vendors, a photo booth, card game demonstrations, prizes, giveaways and raffles.

“It’s a lot of fun,” said Lisa Thomas, Adult Programs Coordinator at the library.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the library would regularly see 3,000 people from near and far walk through the doors during Comix Con. Thomas said that the library is expecting a smaller crowd this year since this is the first regular year back, but the library would like to see it grow every year.
