Comix Con draws 1,400 to library

The Gloucester County Public Library drew a crowd of Pokémon trainers, Jedi Knights and various superheroes to its sixth annual Comix Con held Saturday at the Main Street Center location. Approximately 1,400 visited the library between 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the event.

Those in attendance were able to enjoy demonstrations by Tampa Taiko, Just Magic, Be Nerdy with Duct Tape, Orcs Wargaming Club and Gloucester Village Blacksmith. Food trucks, face-painting and science fiction displays were also popular at this year’s event.

“GCPL wishes to thank everyone for their support of Comix Con,” said event coordinator Nancy Halstead, who is the library programming specialist for teen services. “Please save the date of Aug. 3 for next year, and, remember, reading is your superpower.”

Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism, Gloucester Community Engagement and representatives from the D.A.R.E. program also had booths at the event.

Comix Con was sponsored by Friends of the Library.
