BEE CITY COMMITTEE: The Gloucester Bee City Committee will meet at 5 o’clock today in the Stewart Building.

TUESDAY

PLANNERS: The Mathews County Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

WEDNESDAY

SOCIAL SERVICES: The Mathews County Social Services Board will meet at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, in the Mathews Social Services office lobby on Church Street.

EMERGENCY PLANNING: The Gloucester Emergency Planning Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, in the Sheriff’s Department Communications Building.

SOCIAL SERVICES: The Gloucester Social Services Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. next Thursday, July 21, at the Social Services office.

TUESDAY

NARFE: Chapter 1757 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Olivia’s in the Village, Gloucester. Chapter members are encouraged to attend and visitors are always welcome. The NARFE meeting will include lunch along with a roundtable discussion with other former government employees. BLOOD DRIVE: The Red Cross will have a blood drive from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins. All types of blood are needed. Reservations can be made at www.redcrossblood.org. Some walk-ins may be permitted if there are cancellations.

CIVIC LEAGUE: The West Mathews Community League will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the league building in Bohannon, for a potluck meal and discussion of the June 18 yard sale.

NEXT THURSDAY

MCRC: The Mathews County Resources Council will meet via Zoom at 9:05 a.m. next Thursday, July 21. The scheduled speaker is Lizna Odhwani, a public affairs specialist for the Social Security Administration. A notice said Mathews Memorial Library will set up a Zoom connection in the Teen Room for residents without home connections to attend the meeting. For more information, call 804-210-9169.
