Coleman Bridge work scheduled for today

Three full directional traffic stops, for both north- and southbound traffic, are scheduled today at the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge.

The closures, which will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, are necessary so that crews can grease the bridge gates, according to Virginia Department of Transportation spokesperson Laurie Simmons.

Each full stop should last about 15 minutes, she said.

Also, Simmons said a single-lane closure in the northbound direction on the bridge was held on Monday for camera repairs.

The Coleman Bridge carries Route 17 across the York River between Gloucester Point and Yorktown.

Simmons said that motorists traveling to Norfolk on Interstate 64 should expect single-lane closures at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel from 9 o’clock tonight until 5 a.m. Friday. Crews will be performing tunnel maintenance.
