Coffee Shop Jazz fundraiser

On Friday, March 15, the Mathews High School Music Department held a successful Coffee Shop Jazz fundraiser. The event included performances by the MHS Jazz Combo, as well as the specially formed Mathews Community Jazz Combo. Contributors to the event include musicians Mike August on drums, Bradyn Barr on trombone, Chris Brock on piano, Eileen Edmonds on flute and vocals, Mark Givens on saxophone, and Nelson Jarvis on bass. Donations for raffle items were made by the MHS Athletic Boosters Club, Melody Barnes, Mary Jac Camp, Jill Coffey, Norwex consultant Katie Givens, Virginia Golden, Wendy Marshall from the Bay School, Amy Noel, Heather Sadeg, Jennifer Schroeder from the Bay School and Audrey Stewart of 5-Star Oriental Medicine. Shown here from left are student ensemble members Gavin Williams (drums), Toby Eskins (bass), Mark Givens (director), Hunter Owens (guitar), Tristan Barnes (piano) and Calvin Burton (baritone). The MHS Music Department hopes to make it an annual event.
