Cobia qualifying for citations in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament were all catch-and-release fish, hooked before the start of cobia season on June 15. Donald Marshall of Hayes won two citations, for a 61-inch cobia caught June 14 at Windmill Point, and a 57-inch fish caught June 15 at York Spit Light. Tracy Whitaker of Gloucester caught and released a 55-inch fish on June 12 while fishing in an unspecified area of Chesapeake Bay. Christen Paine of Dutton caught and released a 60-inch cobia while fishing June 4 at New Point Comfort. William Schramm of Gloucester caught and released a 50.5-inch cobia on June 4 in an unspecified area of Chesapeake Bay. Two sheepshead catches qualified residents for citations.
