Coalition4Kids working on initiative for Mathews teens

The Coalition4Kids, an alliance that brings together various organizations in Mathews to coordinate educational and recreational opportunities for youth, is working on a new initiative.

With a $5,000 grant from the Elis Olsson Memorial Foundation, the coalition plans to enrich the lives of teenagers in Mathews by taking them on cultural and educational trips outside the Middle Peninsula.

Through day trips, the teens will gain experience and insight that they can bring back to share with the community through service-oriented and creative projects, said a press release.

The initiative will also give participants a look at careers in both the public and private sector that will help them choose their own career paths after graduation. C4K proposes to work closely with the education community in planning and executing this project, said the release.
