Coach’s Comedy Club show to benefit West Mathews Community League

Coach’s Comedy Club, the third annual comedy show to benefit the West Mathews Community League Peninsula School at Bohannon, will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at the Harry Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School.

The evening of stand-up comedy features Coach Tom Holaday of Mathews as master of ceremonies, along with comics Rob Reibold and David Beck.

Holaday, who retired from Mathews High School as a teacher and wrestling coach, started working in comedy clubs in 1992 “inspired by the joy and excitement he experienced getting laughs at high school banquets, assemblies, pep rallies and fundraisers,” according to a release. Holaday now tours clubs and speaks at corporate functions about his life as a father, teacher and coach.

“Everyone has a family, went to high school, and enjoys sports (or at least is married to someone who does). All can relate to the clean comedy of Coach Holaday’s life stories,” the release stated.
