CNU students to help promote Mathews tourism

A group of students from the Small Business Institute at Christopher Newport University’s Luter School of Business toured Mathews County on Saturday for a special project they’re working on.

The group visited the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, area businesses, restaurants, lodgings and attractions to help MCVIC promote Mathews as a tourism destination to younger visitors, said Steve Whiteway of Mathews Main Street Committee. They will leverage technology, social media, and other marketing approaches in their efforts.

The Small Business Institute is a class that provides CNU business students the opportunity to perform consulting engagements with area businesses and nonprofit organizations, said Whiteway. There is no charge for their services, but the project selection process is competitive.
