CNU students start reading program

Four students in the President’s Leadership Program at Christopher Newport University have started a reading program at the Boys and Girls Club of Gloucester.

CNU students Rebecca Capel, David Levenson, Dianna Cox and Ashley Woodland have established "Reading to My BFF (Best Furry Friend)" at the club. The students, utilizing age-appropriate books and stuffed animals, encourage children not comfortable with reading out loud to instead read to their best furry friend.

The program also gives older club members the opportunity to assist the younger children with their reading, thus building bonds between the club youths. The group meets from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.
