Closings announced for Christmas, New Year’s

All courts and county offices in Gloucester and Mathews will be closed on Friday and Monday, Dec. 23 and 26, for the Christmas holiday, as well as Monday, Jan. 2 for New Year’s Day.

DMV customer service centers will be closed Dec. 23, 24, and 26, as well as Jan. 2. More than 50 services are available online at dmvNOW.com or through the mail if customers need access to DMV during the winter holiday closures.

Post offices in both counties will be closed two successive Mondays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

Gloucester and Mathews libraries will be closed Dec. 23 through Dec. 26 for Christmas. Gloucester libraries’ book drops will be closed, as well, but Mathews Memorial Library’s book drops will be open. Over New Year’s, Mathews Memorial Library will be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, while Gloucester will be closed Monday only.

Schools in both counties closed this past Monday, Dec. 19, and will remain closed through Friday, Dec. 30, reopening on Monday, Jan. 2.
