CLIFFORD RAY DOGGETT

Clifford Ray Doggett, 88, of Gloucester Point, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017.

He was a graduate of John Marshall High School, and attended VCU and the University of Richmond.

Ray retired from the insurance industry having been with both the Gett Insurance Agency and the B. Vaughan Noble Insurance Agency, Inc. He was also a long-standing member of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents.

Ray worked hard and was known as a kind and generous Southern gentleman who not only walked the walk, but talked the talk. He attended Calvary UMC and was a Sunday school teacher at Westhampton and Bethany United Methodist churches.  

He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Pearl Burkman Doggett.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Newbill Doggett; son, Clifford Ray Doggett Jr., wife Katie; daughters, Sherri D. Torode, husband Chuck; Jerri Morgan Doggett; sister, Patricia D. Colonna and husband William, and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Arthur L. Wolz Jr. and the Rev. Deborah T. Marion was held at 12 noon, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery.  The family received friends Monday, May 22, 2017, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
