Clemons named Region III Superintendent of Year

Gloucester Superintendent of Schools Walter R. Clemons has been named the 2016-17 Virginia Region III Superintendent of the Year. The announcement was made at the Region III superintendents’ meeting on March 16 in Essex.

Region III includes Caroline, Colonial Beach, Essex, Fredericksburg, Gloucester, King George, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond County, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Westmoreland and West Point. 

“I am extremely honored to be selected by such an outstanding group of colleagues in Region III and it is truly humbling to be recognized by your peers for the work that you do,” Clemons said of the recognition.

He has been the superintendent in Gloucester since July 1, 2014. Prior to that, for three years he was superintendent of Northampton County Public Schools on the Eastern Shore.
