Clemons appointed to state School Readiness Committee

Dr. Walter Clemons, Superintendent of Gloucester County Public Schools, has been named to the new state School Readiness Committee.

“I’m pleased and I feel it’s an honor to be nominated by VASS (Virginia Association of School Superintendents) and to be selected. I’m very humbled and pleased to be able to serve,” Clemons said Tuesday.

Members of the committee, along with the new members of the Standards of Learning (SOL) Innovation Committee, were announced by Gov. Terry McAuliffe earlier this month.

The School Readiness Committee was established by the 2016 General Assembly in order to better equip the next generation of early childhood educators with the schools that will ensure student success, according to a release from the governor’s office.
