Clean Community hands out reusable bags

The Gloucester County Clean Community is handing out almost 500 reusable bags at Gloucester farm stands thanks to grant funding from Keep Virginia Beautiful.

On Aug. 13, volunteers from Cub Scout Pack 133/Girl Scout Troop 1055, Gloucester Royal Cheer and Girl Scout Troop 1076 handed out around 200 bags at Farmer’s Daughter in Hayes and Ware Neck Produce.

This initiative is to help the public acquire reusable bags in hopes of deterring the use of plastic bags. Bags will be available Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon, while supplies last.

For more information, email Clean Community Coordinator Sherry Kosakowski at cleancommunity@gloucesterva.info or call 804-693-5370.

Janet Woolridge and Samantha Woolridge of Girl Scout Troop 1076 were at Farmer’s Daughter in Hayes on Aug. 13 to give bags to customers.
