Clean Community coordinator named in Gloucester

Lee Fuerst was hired recently as Gloucester County’s new Clean Community coordinator.

Christi Lewis, director of Community Education and Fuerst’s supervisor, said she is glad to fill the position with someone as well qualified as Fuerst. She replaces Bill Bell, who resigned a number of months ago to accept employment closer to his Northern Neck home.

Fuerst works part-time. She started in the job Dec. 7, and said she is already busy with a major project, Clean Gloucester Day, fast approaching on Saturday, March 19. Last year, 306 volunteers participated and helped with this annual spring cleaning of Gloucester, scheduled a couple weeks prior to the Daffodil Festival.

Fuerst doesn’t want to be complacent and has set a goal of 500 volunteers for this year’s Clean Gloucester Day. Her request is simple: “We need you!”
