Classes offered at Bay School

A number of art classes sponsored by the Bay School Community Arts Center are being offered this week in Mathews.

Stained-Glass Flowers in a Pot will be taught by instructor Lynn Abrams from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at her home studio. Participants aged 18 and older will learn the basics of stained glass, including cutting, foiling, grinding, and soldering, and will create an array of flowers. Clay pots will be provided. Eye protection will be needed. The cost is $100.

Teen Scene—After School Art is offered from 3-4:30 p.m. every Monday for ages 13-18 by instructor Anne Atkinson. Students study works of art by Picasso, Matisse, Calder, Wyeth, and many more artists. The class is free of charge.

Bridge Open Studio is a friendly gathering of bridge players held from 10 a.m. to noon every second and fourth Tuesday. This continual learning group, aged 18 and older, is not a formal class, although there may be discussion of what plays were made and why. The cost is $3 per session.

Cello Lessons 30 Minutes, a class for all ages and skill levels, is offered from noon to 4 p.m. every Wednesday. It is taught by Nina Buzby, a former member of the Richmond Symphony, a founding member of The Tuneful Teachers, and a member of Strings and Things and other area performing groups.
