Civic group raising money to outfit new fire engine

The Piankatank Community League has embarked on a new donation project to support residents in the Harcum area.

A release said the league will plan activities and solicit donations to help Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue outfit a new fire engine for Harcum Station 4.

Capt. James Gilsinan of GVFR addressed the league at its May 16 meeting and told members that Gloucester County’s approved budget for the coming year includes funds to purchase the engine, but said the money is needed to equip the engine with firefighting tools and gear.

The league presented seed money for this equipment and announced its fundraising plan, the release said.

Donations may be arranged by calling Paul Malcolm, chairman of the league’s board of directors, at 693-0317.
