The Mathews Citizens for the Common Good announced this week the slate of candidates the group supports in the upcoming local county elections.

For Mathews Board of Supervisors, MCCG has endorsed Tom Bowen, Janice Hudgins Phillips and Tim Doss. For Mathews County School Board, the organization is supporting Mary Kathryn Diggs and the reelection bid of current board chairman Desmond Smith.

“MCCG is delighted and grateful for the overwhelming response from Mathews County citizens looking for positive change. You are telling us you want candidates that will listen; will make sound, long-term decisions; will act in the best interest of everyone; and return to county government that is fiscally accountable, socially responsible, and worthy of citizen trust,” according to a release submitted by Bernadette La Casse, a member of the Mathews Citizens for the Common Good Board of Directors.
