Citation bass, crappie caught at Beaverdam

Anglers have been catching largemouth bass, black crappie, white perch and yellow perch in Beaverdam Park, according to park ranger Elizabeth Keefer.

Keefer said a 23-inch citation bass was recently caught by a frequent fisherman and another angler caught a 15-inch bass and a 14-inch crappie in water depths between 11 and 22 feet.

The current water temperature in the reservoir is 49 degrees near the surface and 47 degrees in deeper water. Minnows, blade bait and jigs are best for catching fish, according to recent reports.

The park is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in December. Watercraft can be rented; bait and concessions are available at the Ranger Station.
