Christmas feasting

Members and friends of American Legion Post 83 of Mathews carried out their Christmas morning tradition, which stretches back 30 years or more, of delivering home-cooked dinners of turkey, gravy, and all the trimmings, to homebound residents. This year, they delivered to 82 Meals on Wheels recipients, the county dispatcher on duty, and two individuals who had made donations to help cover the cost. Meals were prepared by local caterer Shelly Williams and packed by the delivery elves, who included, from left, Debbie and Ron Lambert, C.A. and Jean Howard, Mary and Jim Warren, Mike and Jo Schramm, Molly and Ted Broderson, Ray Fleischer, Allan and Gale Riley, Mary Ann and Lewis Hubbard, and Bonnie and Al Smith.
