The Mathews Ruritan Club Christmas Blessing Fund is well on the way toward the club’s goal of $20,000 after four weeks.

Honorary Chairperson Nelda Gibbs said in a press release on Tuesday that the fund had received donations of $19,009 thus far.

“There is still time to make your generous and much-needed donations,” she said. “Now, more than ever, needy families in our community need our help in keeping their families warm and safe.”

Tax-deductible contributions to assist needy families with home heating costs may be sent to: Christmas Blessing Fund, P.O. Box 74, Mathews, Va. 23109.
