Christmas at Ware to be held Dec. 13

This year’s Christmas at Ware market will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the historic Gloucester church.

Those attending are encouraged to help themselves to a free cup of hot chocolate as they stroll through the food and artisan stalls. There will be decorations based on the theme “Twelve Days of Christmas” among the 70 vendors.

Christmas at Ware musical performances will be held inside the church’s old walls. Holiday music presented by students from local schools will reflect their joy in the Christmas season. It is also an opportunity to get inside if the weather is chilly that day, between shopping and greeting friends.

Church organist Patti Taylor is planning a sing-along of holiday carols. The schedule of musical events will be posted at the entrance to the market for those interested. Contact the Ware office at 804-693-3821 or office@warechurch.org if your group/choir would like to book a 20-30-minute segment during the market hours. Last year there were over 1,100 attendees.

There will be a craft table for the children to make an ornament with all sorts of bright supplies. Ware has invited six judges from several churches to present prizes to the first-, second- and third-place vendors that best display the “Twelve Days of Christmas” theme at their booth. The churches signed up to judge are Apostles Lutheran, Bethany United Methodist, New Mount Zion Baptist, St. James on-the-Glebe Anglican, Ware Episcopal Church, and Zion Poplars Baptist. There will also be a People’s Choice Award.
