Christine Bailey Haywood, 95, of Cobbs Creek, Virginia, entered her Heavenly home and met her Savior on Thursday, July 9, 2026. She was a longtime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Gloucester, Virginia, where she taught children through adults for over 50 years. She loved Jesus and telling others about him. She graduated from Botetourt High School in 1949 in Gloucester, and Pan American Business School in Richmond, Virginia. When Walter Reed Hospital was built, she volunteered there for 20 years. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and a friend to all.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Mary Virginia Sutton and John Alvin Bailey; a daughter, Jeannie Dunston, and a great-grandson, Caleb McTurnal.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Owens (Stanford Jr.); a son, Nelson Morris (Pam) and daughters, Kathy Hudgins (Waverly) and Patsy Brooks (Dickie); a son-in-law, Al Dunston; sisters, Shirley Lewis and Carolyn Smith; nine grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. with a celebration of her life service at 2:30 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. Burial followed in Haynes Cemetery, Cobbs Creek, Virginia.
