Rejoice on the River, a free Christian concert series featuring Shades of Country from Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry, will be held in June, July and August at Williams Wharf Landing in Mathews.
The first concert will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30. There will be special guest performances by local artists Heather Mackenzie and the Kellum Family Singers.
The concerts will highlight praise music in all forms, from gospel and contemporary to hymns, bluegrass, and more, said a press release.
“Our community has suffered a year of heartbreaking losses, unprecedented isolation, and the closure of our churches,” said the release. “But we survived. And now it’s time to rejoice! It’s a time for our community to finally gather together, give thanks, praise our Lord, and renew our souls under the beautiful backdrop of the East River.”
