Christchurch hosts basketball tournament

Christchurch School will host the 32nd Annual John Stone Basketball Tournament Friday and Saturday in Yarbrough Gymnasium on the school’s Middlesex County campus. The tournament is held each year in memory of John Stone, a 1986 CCS graduate.

This year, the boys’ varsity basketball team will host Essex High School, Norfolk Christian, and Williamsburg Christian Academy.

The tournament will tip off at 5 p.m. Friday with Essex taking on Norfolk Christian. Christchurch will play Williamsburg Christian at 7.

The tournament’s consolation round will start at noon Saturday, with the championship game at 2. The tournament is free and open to the public. Spectators will be required to mask.

This year’s Christchurch boys’ basketball team is coached by C.J. Kelly. A learning specialist at the school, Kelly also teaches math, coaches football, and is a dorm parent.
