Saturday’s Mathews Rotary Club 8th annual Chili Cook-Off, held at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building in Hudgins, was a big success, with a sell-out crowd of about 500 people enjoying a meal and getting to taste (and judge) the best chili made by entries from the Mathews Rotary, Mathews Historical Museum, Bay School Community Arts Center, Mathews Land Conservancy, and Mathews Kiwanis Club. The judges were Bobbi and Paul Hatton, Linda and Alan Fleming and Mary Lee Nuegent.
