Children’s floral arranging part of Daffodil Festival activities

The Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews hosted its annual children’s floral arranging event as a part of the festivities at the Gloucester Daffodil Festival on April 6.

For 10 years, Arts on Main has provided its showrooms for this free event. This year’s theme was “Everything’s Popping Up Daffodils” so 84 children, many repeat attendees, participated in making their floral creations in popcorn tubs, leading to clever and unique designs, a release said.

Members of the Garden Club provide not only the flowers and greens but also instructions on design and other “tricks of the trade” to assist the children ages 6-13 in creating their own masterpieces to take home.

A signature event for the Garden Club, “Fun With Flowers,” has become one of the favorite activities of the year for members as they encourage young people to learn about the joy of flowers through personal expression but especially the daffodil.
