After a year off due to the pandemic, the Abingdon Ruritan Club opened its doors once again Sunday for the annual Children’s Christmas Party. Children were invited to play games, eat some cookies and other treats, pick up a book, win bikes and other presents as door prizes, and visit with Santa Claus. Here, club member Walter Priest runs the popular cake walk. “We’re happy we’re able to do this again,” said Lynn Onesty, who headed the committee that organized this year’s event. She talked about the great community support in donating toys and other supplies and the amazing turnout of club members to make it happen. “A lot of effort came together,” she said.
