Child abduction attempt reported in Gloucester

Parents of Gloucester Public Schools students were notified Friday about a possible child abduction attempt that was reported in the Founders Mill subdivision.

Gloucester Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Darrell Warren said an 11-year-old girl was walking from her bus stop at about 4 p.m. last Thursday when the incident occurred. He said she was at the corner of Founders Mill Way and Founders Mill Way East when a white, older model four-door sedan with a man at the wheel approached.

Warren said the white male driver offered the child a ride home, which she turned down. He then said "Get in the car now" twice. The girl ran to a friend’s residence and the sheriff’s office was called. Warren said officers responded to the area but could not locate the white sedan.
