Chesapeake Bank collecting school supplies

Chesapeake Bank is aiming to send local students back to school with full backpacks. Through Aug. 9, the bank will collect school supplies and monetary donations at its Gloucester and Mathews branches for area children in need.

The Mathews branch will match every dollar donated up to $1,000 to benefit Mathews Social Services. The two Gloucester branches will do the same for Gloucester Social Services.

Items needed include pencils, colored markers, glue sticks and notebook paper. A complete list of supplies can be found at the bank branches and at www.chesbank.com under “Causes We Care About.”

The Mathews and Gloucester branches are striving to serve 200 needy children with school supplies this year. In total, Chesapeake Bank hopes to supply more than 350 children through its additional branches in Williamsburg and the Northern Neck. ...
