Chesapeake Bank collecting school supplies, money for area children

Chesapeake Bank is aiming to send area students back to school with full backpacks, ready to learn.

Now through Aug. 8, Chesapeake Bank will collect school supplies and monetary donations at its Mathews and Gloucester branches for area children in need.

Donations collected at the Mathews branch will benefit both the Mathews Family YMCA Bright Beginnings program and the Mathews Department of Social Services. The Mathews branch will also match every dollar donated up to $500 to benefit the Mathews Department of Social Services.

The two Gloucester branches will do the same for the Gloucester Department of Social Services. Supplies needed include pencils, crayons, washable markers, scissors and notebook paper, among other things.
