A private Celebration of Life service was held for Cheryl Tyree Oliphant, 72, of Gloucester, on Monday, Oct. 28. She died Oct. 26, 2019.

She grew up in Newport News, and graduated from Ferguson High School. She retired after 40 years of civil service at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown.

Survivors include her children, Shannon Leigh Vanhonk, and son, Travis Aubrey Fisher, and brothers, Mitchell Tyree and Michael Tyree.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilton and Loreen Tyree; maternal grandparents, Lena and Hardy Duncan, and paternal grandparents, Seth and Bessie Tyree. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Andrews Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of services.
