The Mathews Rotary Club held its 39th consecutive annual Charter Night on Saturday at the Mathews Yacht Club. The event celebrates when Mathews Rotary received its charter from Rotary International. Guest Del. Keith Hodges (R-Urbanna) addressed current legislation being discussed at the state level. Hodges received a Paul Harris Award for all his work representing Mathews since 2012. In addition, the following Rotarians were also given Paul Harris Awards for all they have done for Mathews Rotary and the community: Tim Hill, Stan Allen, Jay Black, Karl Braun and Steve Cohen. Mathews Rotary meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at the Piankatank Ruritan Club.
