Charter Night

The Mathews Kiwanis Club hosted its Charter Night program on Sunday at the Hyco House in Mathews. The event was open to the public and attended by Mathews residents as well as the Kiwanis Capital District Governor Jen Wolff and the Kiwanis Division 12 Lt. Governor Missy Zimmerman. Kiwanis members drove in from Williamsburg, Gloucester, and Middlesex clubs to celebrate the chartering of the Mathews club. In all, 17 Mathews members were inducted on Sunday, and three new membership applications were received at the charter dinner. Pulled pork BBQ, steamed crabs, lots of side dishes and homemade ice cream fed a crowd of 50 or more guests, including lots of children. The member induction formalities were followed by a drumming session for the youngsters (and a few adults) led by member Jean Howard from CA&J Farm.
